This workshop is for parents, caregivers, and anyone who works closely with children.

What will you learn?

In this workshop we will take a deep dive into the “why” behind your child’s challenging behaviour. We will learn about the brain and the nervous system and the role these systems play in our behaviour. In addition, we will learn about the cycle of aggression, how to recognize big emotions before they happen, and strategies to help support not only the child’s nervous system but yours as well.

Details

In this workshop, we will provide an understanding of Anger and Aggression from a neurobiological and attachment perspective. We will aim to dismantle the belief that anger and aggression are bad behaviours that need to be corrected and instead view them as normal biological responses. In addition, we will explore opportunities for helping to support children through these emotions that will also promote confidence with interventions and relationship repair strategies.

This workshop is for expectant mothers and their partners and new parents.

What will you learn?

In this workshop we explore attachment and why it is important to our kids overall health and well-being. In addition, we discuss various ways healthy attachments can be formed so that you will leave the workshop with strategies that can be put into practice right away.

Details

Attachment can promote healthy development and relationships for children. When attachment is disrupted or insecure there can be lifelong negative impacts to behaviour, growth and connections with others. In this workshop we will discuss how to recognize opportunities, promote autonomy and mentor positive attachments with children and families.

PLAY POWER

Who should attend and what will you learn?

Who Should attend?

This workshop is for parents, caregivers, grandparents, teachers, child care workers and really anyone who engages with children regularly and wants to learn how to incorporate play into their lives on a regular basis.

What will you learn?

In this workshop we talk about the many benefits play can offer and the positive impact it can have on your child’s overall health and development. We also offer various strategies for engaging in play with your child through hands-on experiences and rich meaningful discussion.

Details

Play is an integral part of a child’s development. In this workshop we talk about the many benefits of play such as building self-awareness, managing and expressing big emotions, developing social skills, increasing self-esteem, improving cognitive skills and much more. Not only will you learn how much play can impact your child’s overall health and development but we will also provide you with practical strategies that will help you integrate play into your daily life in a meaningful way.

FASD

This workshop is for parents and caregivers as well as daycare or school staff who work with children with FASD

What will you learn?

Mental Health First Aid (Standard)

Who should attend and what will you learn?

Who Should attend?

This workshop is designed for adults who may be working or interacting with adults and who may also be looking to help reduce incidences of mental health problems and issues.

What will you learn?

As this workshop covers wellness to illness, this course aims to help individuals recognize and respond to the most common mental health problems with increased confidence and promote practical skills in providing help to others, reduce stigma of mental health challenges, and improve the mental health of those who participate.

Details

MHFA is designed to help promote education for everyone working to support individuals that may be experiencing a mental health challenge and will provide you with practical skills to engage and initiate support to improve wellness outcomes. This course will discuss signs and symptoms of the most common mental health problems, ways to engage with individuals who are experiencing these problems, and will equip you with practical skills and knowledge of additional support and resources to refer to for professional help.

✦ Note:Sessions are created to run up to 3 hours with the exception of Mental health first aid. All sessions can be modified in length, tailored to meet diverse audiences and a variety of learning outcomes.
